Influencer Blog Content Plan: Art

Although I have much room for improvement, I can confidently say I’m much better than most average people at producing artwork. A large part of who I’ve become is my ability to illustrate. Over the past year in Japan, I’ve been able to practice drawing every day. I have shown massive improvement over that time and am leagues ahead of where I first started just six years ago. It’s hard to track progress in the short term, but looking back the most important thing I did was starting.

I Wish I Could Draw.

Is something I’ve been hearing more and more as I work to refine my skills. My answer to that is either “You can”, because anyone can draw like me. The next hardest thing after starting to draw is simply keeping at it. Putting in the work day in and out even when you don’t feel like drawing is a big part of improving. After getting past that part of the conversation, what usually follows is me telling them I’m not that good. Astounded, I tell them a big part of improving is staying humble. The life of a creative is like climbing to the peak of the mountain only to see other people waving to you from a bigger mountain. There’s always that next space you want to get to.

When I first started drawing It was on lined paper in class and none of the drawings were really even that good!

Where’s Your Art??

Some of you might be saying that guy’s got a big mouth, but the art section of his website is empty. The truth is even though I’ve been producing a lot of artwork, I’ve done a terrible job of uploading it anywhere. In today’s word if there’s no evidence of it, it didn’t happen. Much of the evidence lies in the hands of the grade schoolers I handed out my drawings to, but one of the things you can expect from me in the future is to actually upload my artworks to my website.

Here’s a recent sketch I was able to do for comparison much improvement

Let’s Climb That Mountain Together.

After watching and reading a lot of books and content dedicated to gathering confidence, I realized I could be so much more than someone who just uploads their artwork online. Other than opening up and sharing personal narratives, I can make posts dedicated to explaining the process in which I create things. Creating tutorials on how to draw, uploading the studies I do, or uploading uncolored lineworks for people to color themselves. Would be a way to get people get better while also promoting my own skills as an aspiring artist.

I’d also like to make a tutorial on how to take nice photos with a DSLR for instagram. It involves more steps than you might think!

Art Videos And Speed Painting

Well if there aren’t enough shitty artists on YouTube trying to build a following on YouTube by doing speed paints. The world is about to get more of those. Perhaps doing a speed paint while having ranting dialogue over the top? I don’t know still at that throwing mud at the wall phase.

Ways To Support Me

The last thing I want to do in terms of art in the next year are finding more ways to make it a part of my income. Next year I’d like to put out line stickers, more T-Shirt Designs, more commissions, and or poster and print sales in order to try to make a living off my passion than my job. At some point I want to start trying patreon again. Whether it be starting a comic or selling books of my illustrations I need to do something with art because it feels like I’m falling behind. Making simple animations and putting them somewhere might help me too.
