A girl I’d liked suggested I listen to it, what I found was I was swept away by beautiful melodies. The lyrics painted a beautiful picture as the soft sounds of tropical house made me feel like I was at a summer party relaxing. Being a fan of melodic dubstep, guitar, trap, and hardstyle I decided to put my own twist on the track.
Well this song has been stuck in my head for awhile, so I decided to do a cover of it, the original track can be found below. Sadly the artist felt overwhelmed and began taking all his songs offline. You can find an archive of their tracks here as well.
When Replicating the Instrumental I Made some Changes.
Scotty Splash is the name of the person who did the instrumental, and although it’s a solid track all by itself I did make some changes. The original starts off with muted piano chords, most likely a like a rhodes that has been filtered. Being a fan of guitar I layered the same chords that the piano plays and added an EQ to make sure that the guitar stayed in the higher end of the spectrum.
Piano Chords
Guitar Chords
This is the easiest way to form the chords but only play the top three strings
Here’s what it sounds like all together
Lead
Lead 1
The leads in the original track are a combination of a softer sounding lead akin to a harp, piano, or bell. The second lead has a sharper tone to it more akin to a guitar, it’s a very sharp pluck sound with a rapid decay. The two leads go throughout the track, setting up a beautiful melody and counter melody. The timing creates an ambient space, a sense of longing, and sadness that I can relate to.
Lead 2
Lead 2
The leads combined sound like this.
All Together So Far We Have This
I’ll be writing a Part 2 soon that will cover the bass, drums, and break of the song.
This song stems from my interest in game sounds and bass music. If you listen carefully you can hear sounds of Zed’s Deathmark, Falco’s Laser and Shine, as well as clips from VOs from both characters. Although I still need to work on mixing and mastering loud bass music like this. It was fun to do sound design with basses and making falcos shine change pitch was a good way to add it in while keeping it in the background.
Having been played on my favorite radio station frequently in my youth this song is close to my heart. With lyrics that match my current status of being young, naive, and anxious about life I had to make a remix of it. Again this is a bootleg so I had to reinforce the recognizable piano melody with my own piano VST. I tried so hard to capture that hard drop bass/synth sound that MiTiS uses in his latest ‘Til The End Album.
Hanasaku Iroha means the budding flower, which is a fitting title for an anime about coming of age. When I watched it I was reminded of the unrivaled determination of the naive youth. It’s opening song is something I have heard many times due to my OSU! obsession. After making a remix of it I can say it’s firmly planted in my head.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing as the song has some really beautiful lyrics arranged by RIPE. The vocal performance is from an artist called Nano and it carries that innocent quality that is found throughout the character in the show. The song was the perfect BPM for a DnB remix, unfortunately it’s a bootleg because I was unable to find a clean vocal online.
Started with me just wanting to put some original songs in a music mix, but somewhere along the line I wanted to tell a story about my feelings with girls and how they can make you feel sometimes. There is still much improvement to be done and a lot of errors were made, but these mixes are live so it’s bound to happen. I hope I was successful in conveying my feelings, but feelings are funny things that don’t make sense to my analytical mind.
is a mix that envolves a lot of dubstep remixes and other bass tracks. I always find this music so difficult to mix because of the increased bpm and lack of sections with nothing but drums in ambient noise. As a dj it’s good to experiment mixing different Genre’s I think!
is an anime/manga about a young, new, and innocent employee trying to navigate her way about the world. It came into my life at the perfect time because I had recently graduated and I was going through many of the same struggles that Aoba was in the series. Being someone who watches anime opening songs and endings even though I have the option to skip them, this song became one of my favorites because of how catchy it was.
Although Blackmill was the reason I started producing music in the first place, going to one of MiTis‘s shows was one of the reasons I started DJing. I thought that it would be nice to make people dance, have fun, and forget about all their problems. MitiS’s music is so powerful I listen to it when I go through hard times in life and it makes everything seem better. I made this MiTis Megamix to show my appreciation of his tunes. It involves some progressive house, trance, DnB, and melodic dubstep.
Some of My Favorite Songs
are the ones where he he collaborates with MaHi. The songs on his new album ‘Til The End really rock the house.
